Blog #14

As we are getting closer and closer to the production of our final project, my group has had a lot of time to collaborate on other projects. We work really well together, and all contribute equally. One thing that is hard for us is finding time outside of class to work together. With extracurricular activities, sports, and work, it’s often hard to have our schedules line up to be able to meet up. When we worked on our script, two of my group members were able to come into my job when I was on break and we worked out our script. One member was unable to attend, but we asked her if our script was good and she agreed with it.

Everything was set to be turned in, until Monday in class when they texted us saying that they changed the script the night before (they were absent). We already printed it out to be submitted, and then noticed changes that we didn’t collectively agree upon and that were improperly formatted. We had to scramble to find our original script that we agreed upon and formatted correctly, and reprint it to turn in before class ended. If that one group member attended the meet up to work on the script this issue could have been avoided, or if she consulted us before she wanted to make changes. It’s not that we don’t want to incorporate their ideas, it’s just that it should have been agreed upon by the group, and that it wasn’t formatted correctly.

Working with my group on the script has taught me how amazing our work can be when we all really take the time to perfect it, yet lack of communication can set us back a lot. We all have creative and unique ideas that snowball off of each other, but we have to make sure to do everything collectively rather than independently.
